Premature ejaculation is one of the most common concerns we treat, and also one of the most surrounded by misinformation. Here are the myths we hear most often — and what's actually true.

Myth: It only happens to young or inexperienced men

PE affects men across every age group and experience level. It's often linked to sensitivity, anxiety or hormonal factors — none of which are tied to age or experience alone.

Myth: It means something is 'wrong' with you

In the vast majority of cases, PE is a manageable pattern, not a sign of a deeper medical issue. Framing it that way usually adds anxiety, which can make the pattern worse.

Myth: Nothing actually works except medication

  • Behavioural techniques improve control for many patients without medication
  • Counselling helps where anxiety is the main driver
  • Medication or herbal support can help, but usually alongside — not instead of — technique

Myth: Your partner has to be involved for treatment to work

It can help, but it isn't required. Many men make real progress with individual technique work before ever discussing it with a partner.

The honest picture

PE is common, well understood, and very treatable. The right combination of technique, and sometimes clinical support, helps most patients see real improvement within a few weeks.
